Original Title : My Desktop Does Not Recognize This Particular Hard Drive

I have a 60gig SATA 2.5" hard drive that is not recognized when I get to where I can choose a drive to install windows 8.1 on. It did this on a different desktop that I had also but I was trying to put Windows 7 on it then. I can see it in bios, it has a drive letter, disk manager sees it and it is active healthy and primary, the cables are fine. I put another drive in and it's recognized just fine. HELP!!!

    Hi,

From what I can tell, this is a standard HDD... not a SSD, and needs no additional drivers...

Especially if your other drives are recognized...

It might be the way the drive is formatted...

Try reformatting it as a NTFS...Basic...Simple Volume....

It also might be the SATA port it is connected to...

Sometimes not all of the ports can be used for a boot device... check your specs for that.

The mother board that I have in my desktop is an ASUS PSQL-EM and the hard drive is a S eagate 60gig HDD Model st96812as I have been trying to find the drivers but have had no luck. How ever Windows installed the drivers and it comes up and works just fine but it just doesn't come up for an option to choose it to install 8.1 on.
