No Windows Log on Screen

Question

I have created a free windows VM instance. When i RDP into it, i just get the Command screen prompt, no windows log on option.

I have tried this twice now with same result.

Any suggestions?

@Niel Browne Welcome to Microsoft Q&A, Thank you for posting your query!

I believe you have installed Windows Server Core Azure VM , that's the reason you are seeing the CMD prompt to login

It's possible to convert Core --> GUI based on the server version (Eg: See here)
