To anyone else still having this problem, so far, the ONLY thing that has been a solution is by going to the control panel (which you can access by right clicking the start button and clicking 'control panel'). From there, go to Programs and Features. Then click 'Turn Windows Features on or off" and then you'll get a small pop-up window that will give you a list of features. Scroll down until you see 'Windows Powershell" and UNCHECK the box. Since doing that, I haven't had the pop up that windows powershell isn't working and here's hoping I don't again.
Powershell Stopped Working - Windows 8 error Windows Powershell has stopped working
For the last 6 months, I've received the message, "Windows Powershell has stopped working" with the prompt to close program. I close it and more than likely it comes up again about five or six times while using. I've updated, done AVG security scans, I even FOUND powershell.exe and deleted it and STILL get the message.
I don't know what to do. I'm so frustrated. I have a Windows 8 AMD series laptop. Let me know if you want other info!

Hello,
I suggest you to uninstall AVG and other third-party software from your system. Then reboot and run SFC /SCANNOW command at administrative Command Prompt, reboot again and see if the problem resolved.
Hope this helps, Good luck :)
