With 8MB of the unreadable (by me, anyway) above.

I am not sure how to proceed.  I do not have the OS on DVD.  I haven't installed anything in the last couple of months.  The last update would have been the Microsoft update back in December.

What do I do to correct this problem?

Richard

I tried the link in the "Note:" section of the intro and get an "Oops" message.  I tried a search for "CheckSUR in Windows 8.1" and receive the message "Hmmm…we seem to be experiencing technical difficulties, but we’re working on a solution right now. Please try again later"

    What next?

    Thanks, Richard

Thanks for the response.  In reading the "How to fix errors in the CheckSUR.log" I notice that it is an  April 12, 2012 article and that it doesn't not mention Windows 8.1.  Is this procedure recommended for Windows 8.1"

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi Richard,

Thank you for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community forum.

This article describes how to resolve servicing corruption that the System Update Readiness tool (CheckSUR) has found but is unable to correct on its own. I would suggest you to refer the section Steps to resolve this issue.

If issue persist, you may try Refreshing PC.

How to restore, refresh, or reset your PC

**Note:**Apps you installed from websites and DVDs will be removed. Apps that came with your PC and apps you installed from the Windows Store will be reinstalled. Windows puts a list of removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC. When you perform Refresh or Reset of the PC, there are chances of losing data.
