Problem connecting with Microsoft Wireless Display adapter

HELP!!

I just installed a microsoft wireless display adapter and can't get it to connect. What happens is the screen on the TV (Sony Bravia 46") connecting to my laptop. A green bar pops up (on my laptop) and says connecting, follow directions on the screen. Then the TV goes blank, the screen on my laptop flashes off then back on twice, the tv goes back to the ready to connect screen and my laptop screen goes back to where I started from. I've read probably 2 dozen articles about people having trouble connecting. None of them worked. I have checked all of my drivers, and they say they are all up to date. I ran the trouble shooting utility for hardware and it said it MAY have found a problem and that it was fixed. Tried to connect again and got the same thing. Also, I have reset the WDA twice with no changes. Does anybody have any idea what's going on?? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne

Hello Wayne,

Welcome to Microsoft Community. I will certainly help you with the issue that you are facing. This issue usually arises due to a driver conflict or when there are hardware issues. I would like to ask you:

  1. What is the make and model of your computer?
  2. Have you updated all the drivers from the support website of the computer manufacturer?
  3. Is your computer compatible?

To diagnose and resolve this issue, try the following methods.

Method 1: Update device drivers

This issue usually arises due to outdated drivers or driver conflict. I would recommend you to visit the support website of the computer manufacturer and download the latest drivers available for your system model. Make sure you upgrade the chipset and graphic drivers along with the system BIOS.

Disclaimer: Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

Method 2:

Refer to the section “Fix problems” from the following link and see if it fixes the issue.

Hope this information was helpful. Let us know the results of these methods once you have tried these methods.

     Any help is appreciated.

Does the MWDA app give any clues?  E.g. supposedly there is a possibility of a firmware update that way.
