I can understand that after doing certain updates, you are having issues with printer as it says “printer driver is missing”.
Before assisting you on this issue, I need to know,
- What is the make and model of the printer and the computer?
- What updates have you performed, prior to this issue?
- Does the USB ports recognized by the computer when you plug any external devices?
- Have you tried connecting the printer to another computer to see if it installs correctly?
This must be due to corrupt hardware drivers or outdated drivers that are not being recognized by the computer.
Let’s try to troubleshoot on this issue.
**Method 1.**Try to follow the below steps to uninstall the printer drivers from device manager.
Device manager:- is a Control Panel application that allows you to manage devices and drivers on your system. You can use Device Manager to uninstall devices and driver packages with some limitations. Typically, an end-user does not use Device Manager to uninstall devices or driver packages, but might have to use Device Manager to troubleshoot problems they might encounter on their computer.
- Click on Start , Control Panel,click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
- Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry and click Uninstall.
- On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
- When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.
Note:-With some devices, you might have to restart the system to complete the uninstallation process. The device might continue to function until the system has been restarted.
If the issue still persists, follow the next method.
Method 2. If the printer drivers are missing, try to update the printer drivers.
