Microsoft reader problem

Recently when trying to open a pdf with reader, it came up with 'path not found'. So I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it in the app store. Every time I click reader in the store to install, it says it's already installed, but when I go to my account and then to my apps, it says it's not installed. So I click it again to install it, but nothing happens, I can't install it whatsoever. It says I have it installed but it is not installed. It's happened ever since I installed windows 10, and then went back to windows 8.1. Please help!

    Hello Brittany,

Thank you for providing us the opportunity to assist you.

As per the issue description the apps of your computer might have been corrupted and due to which you are facing issue with the reader app. So, I would suggest you to run app troubleshooter and see if it helps you to fix the issue.

    Step 1:

Please go to the link given below, download the file and run it.

    Run Apps Troubleshooter

Download and run the Modern UI App troubleshooter.

If issue persist try to check the system files are they working fine or not and to check that try to run System File Checker (SFC) tool.

SFC scan will scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows 8.

    1. Press Windows key and X at the same time.
    2. Choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the context menu.
    3. In the command prompt, type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
    4. Exit command prompt.
