How do i prevent file explorer preview pane playing embedded power point audios when assembling/editing a new presentation using pptx files chosen from file explorer?

As long as the file explorer window is open it plays the sound tracks of whatever files is/are highlighted at the time. If a new file is selected they both play - Chaos!

I can stop the sound by disabling the preview pane, but that defeats the purpose for editing. I need to see the visual of the file selected for  inclusion.

This isn't possible, sorry.  When showing in the preview pane, you are literally running a full copy of PowerPoint (just smaller), so it's going to do whatever the slide is programmed to do, including playing media.

    Thanks Shawn.

This looks like a bug to me.

By the time one has reviewed several choices, the background noise is totally confusing, and having to turn the sound down and up for each "review" is a total pain.

A partial cure comes by turning of the review pane and selecting the "Large Thumbnail" icon (LRH corner); but that prevents previews in other apps - equally frustrating!.
