I finally solved my issue.. I downloaded a free copy of a Windows 8.1 ISO ran the program  then I went to the recovery section and did a refresh of my computer. When it was done the App store was working properly. I am able to download and install plus run all apps without issue.

I have tried everything that was suggested for me to do and still cannot install APP's. Here is some new info I received after running the app troubleshooter.

Service registration is missing or corrupt

Windows store cache may be corrupt

windows store configuration may be damaged

Hope this info helps to get this issue fixed.

    Hi Gary,

Thank you for your update on the issue.

The issue might arise due to various reasons including slow, intermittent or proxy internet connection, store cache corruption, conflict due to third party software. So, I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if the issue persists.

    Method 1: Run Apps Troubleshooter

Download and run the *Modern UI App troubleshooter*.

Also, refer to the additional steps from the following link.

*What to do if you have problems with an app*

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

    Method 2: Reset store cache

    a) Press Windows logo key + X and click Run.

    b) Type WSReset.exe in the empty space and hit ENTER.

Try opening the Windows store and check for the issue.

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

    Method 3: Disable proxy connection

If you are usinga **proxy connection,**then try disabling proxy and then check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

    1. Open Internet Explorer
    2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options
    3. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings
    4. Uncheck the Use Proxy server.
    5. Click Apply and Ok to save changes.

Now check if you can install any apps from Store.

    Additional information:

    Hi Gary,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue. However, I would appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down the issue in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. Where exactly do you get this error message?
    2. What significant changes do you observe after getting the error message?
    3. Does the error occur when you access some software e.g., Windows Live Mail?
    4. Is the issue related to Windows Store (as per your question category)?

The error message that you have mentioned includes an ESENT error code. ESENT databases are used extensively in Windows, for example by Windows Search, Windows Update and Event Viewer. They also form the backbone of data storage for Windows Live Mail, which may incorporate many different ones.

So, before providing any troubleshooting steps, I would have you provide us the above asked information to narrow down the issue and help you with targeted assistance. We'll be glad to assist you further.
