Morning World.

I have an issue I can't quite seem to understand and I hope there is an answer out there fairly quickly before I pull all of my hair out!

I working on a Secure Network IL4 VLAN. I have DHCP enabled and configured on a server which also acts as the DC.

I have configured the scopes on the DHCP server with the range of IP addresses it should be looking for on what Subnet etc.

If I use a static IP it connects instantly but when using DHCP is takes a while to find anything then gives itself the automatic address of 169.254 (PIPA)

Why can't the client PC see the DHCP server?

  • Client PC is on the same domain.
  • DHCP enabled on server services
  • DHCP enabled on IPv4

Server is 2008r2 and Client pc is both Windows XP and Windows 7

Thoughts?
