Kernel Security Check Failure on Integrated Webcam - Lenovo G550 - Windows 8.1 Enterprise

Hi all

I've been using a Lenovo G550 laptop for over 5 years now, without any problems with the webcam when running Windows 7. I recently installed Windows 8.1 Enterprise, and since then each time I try to start the webcam, the computer restarts with the blue screen display and a Kernel Security Check Failure warning.

I went through similar queries on this problem posted by others on this Microsoft community, and based on instructions I found on the following links,

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows\_8-hardware/kernelsecuritycheck-failure-when-opening-webcam-in/a3394f31-15b8-4d26-bde9-fb14b4969829

and

I downloaded and installed drivers (for Windows 7, 64-bit model. None available for Windows 8/8.1) for Lenovo EasyCamera and a Camera Driver. Despite these changes, the system still crashes when I try to start the camera.

I've therefore copied the minidump files from my laptop, and the link to it is below

Please help me out. Thanks in advance

    Hi Z

I did as you asked, that is uninstalled both the Easy camera and Lenovo camera drivers and installed the latest ones available on the Lenovo website. The problem still persists in the same manner. What other options do I have?

These were both Related to your 6 year old SMIksdrv.sys AVStream Camera Driver from SMI.  I would remove it and install the newest driver available even if it is the same date
