Hi Ralf,
Thank you for the update.
Since the Error code mentioned was Code 28. It means there are no compatible drivers for the device. You have updated the drivers and the issue still persists, so you may contact the manufacturer of the device.

I have 2 Android devices, A Samsung Galaxy S5 (Android 5.0) and a HP Slate 7 Beats Edition Tablet (Android 4.4.2).
From the outset Windows 8.1 didn't like the phone until I installed the Samsung Kies Software, the phone then connected "normally".
I recently purchased a HP Slate 7 Beats Edition Tablet and can not get Windows to recognise the tablet in Media device mode.
I have scoured the net to find the resolution to the connection issue without success, and all I have to show for my endeavours is :
My question is how do I correct the error in Device manager, I feel that is where the root of this problem lies,
It seems that the Kies Software may have corrupted the entry for media devices and now the tablet isn't able to be recognised.
Has anyone else experienced this before ?

I tried the Update, but it made absolutely no difference.
I still have a ! entry in Device Manager, and I still cant access the tablet in Windows Explorer.
I feel that the error is related to the inability to access the device properties in the registry.
Is there any way to reset the registry entries for media devices and allow them to reinstall?
Hi,
Thank you for the update.
Download the Drivers for HP Slate from the link mentioned below and see if it helps.

Hi
Thank you for your reply.
I have tried both solutions.
Neither had any effect.
When I Check in Device manager, I still see a listing for other devices with ! Android listed underneath it.
When I run the trouble shooter I receive a message that states - there is no driver installed for android.
This is what I see in device manager :
Connecting the tablet to a Primary USB port on my notebook.
Hi Ralf,
Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.
Let us follow the below methods and check if that helps:

I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.
Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:
a. Press “Windows key + W”.
b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
c. Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
d. Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
e. Follow the On Screen instructions.
Method 2: I suggest you to uninstall the device from the device manager and restart the system and then try to connect the device and check if that works.
