Hi Alisa,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft forums.

The Code 10 error is mainly related to hardware and device driver issues or due to compatibility issues between hardware and Windows 8.1.

Code 31 is related to the correct drivers not getting loaded.

First of all, I suggest you to start the Bluetooth service and set it to Automatic:

a. Press Windows key + R on the keyboard.

b. Type “Services.msc” without quotes and press Enter.

c. Right click on Bluetooth support service and click on Properties.

d. Set the Startup type as Automatic and then click Start under Service status.

e. Click on OK.

Method 1:

You may try to run “Hardware and Device” troubleshooter to diagnose and fix the issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter.

a. Press “Windows key + W” from the keyboard.

b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the search box and hit Enter.

c. Select “View all” option from the left panel.

d. Select “Hardware and Device” from the list and follow On-screen instructions.

For further information, refer to the article:

Fix: "This device cannot start" Code 10 error in Device Manager in Windows

http://support.microsoft.com/

Note: This applies to Windows 8.1 also.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the latest Bluetooth driver and check if it helps.

Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall Bluetooth Driver.

Please follow the steps given here to uninstall and then reinstall the Bluetooth driver.

a) Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.

b) Select Device Manager.

c) Find and double-click Bluetooth driver from the left panel to uninstall

d) Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.

e) Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click OKto remove the driver.

f) After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible.

Step 2: You may also refer to the Acer support website to check for Windows 8.1 drivers for all the problem devices.

http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/aspirev5

Hope the information helps. Let us know if the issue persists and we will be glad to assist you further.
