    Hello,

I can understand the inconvenience you have experienced.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    • What is the model of your laptop?

The error code 31 is displayed when Windows can’t load the driver required for that device to work. This could be caused if the driver files are corrupted or damaged. I would suggest you to try these steps in the same order and check:

    Method 1:

First, I would suggest you to uninstall the current driver as it might be corrupted and restart the computer. When you uninstall the driver and restart the system, windows will automatically detect and try to install the Microsoft Basic display drivers. Refer to these steps:

    a)      Press Windows key +X, click on “Device manager”.

    b)      Locate the Display adapter and right click to select properties.

    c)       In the “Driver” tab, click on “Uninstall driver” and press OK to save changes.

    d)      Now restart the computer and check.

If issue still persists try method 2.

Method 2: Hardware and devices troubleshooter

The Hardware and devices troubleshooter is a built in troubleshooter that can detect and fix most of the errors related to devices. Refer to these steps to run this troubleshooter:

    a)      Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

    b)      Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.

    c)       Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.

    d)      Run the “Hardware and devices” troubleshooter.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance with Windows.

    Thank you,

Tried all these instructions but no results obtained. The driver trying to start is not the sameas the driver for the POSTed display adapter Could you possibly let me know what is left for me to do to get the new driver installed. It will not uninstall permentally
