Task manager does not show all memory usage

Hi there,

past few days I have been watching my Laptop performance and I noticed that for some reason my Task Manger does not show all memory usage.

My Laptop has 8 GB of RM and TM shows 33% usage which is ~2.6GB memory usage and some basic math with Windows Calculator shows only  ~1.3 GB usage.

Can someone explain me where are the rest 1.3 GB and why there isn't any record of it :?

In task manager it lists processes and apps.  It does not list things like shared video ram, fast cache, etc.  For a more accurate view of ram usage you should use resource monitor.  In task manager>performance tab>open resource monitor (or type resmon in search)

Basically Win 8.1 takes about 1/2 of the ram and puts it into fast cache (a good thing) so that when you launch an app it launches faster.
