program won't install from dvd

Hi all

I'm having some problems installing a program to my hp pavilion dv6 laptop from the dvd drive.

When i put the disc in autoplay recognises it, i can view the files through my computer. When i run the install file the installshield wizard pops up and recognises the program, user account control asks if i want it to make changes to my computer but then it just grinds to a halt. The status bar doesn't move in installshield no matter how long i leave it.

My laptop will play dvds fine so I'm (reasonably) sure it's not a hardware issue. Any help would be really appreciated!

    Hi Bill,

Still no luck, it let's me run as admin, all loads up and begins installation but doesn't progress. I've been running it around 30 mins and the green progress bar hasn't moved at all.

I've tested installation of 2 other programs (both games) and these were successful straight away. I've also checked the requirements for the dvsa program and it says i need xp or higher and I'm running Windows 7.

Thanks for your attempts so far!

    Dan

    Hi,

When you attempt to install it > right click on it > then select Run as Administrator.

    Cheers.
