use small taskbar buttons missing from domain joined surface pro 3

Split from this thread.

The "Use small taskbar buttons" option is also missing on a new and fully up to date Surface Pro 3. Will this bug be addressed by an update at some point?

Please try the following while signed in with the user account where the "Use small taskbar buttons" checkbox is not available:

  • From the Start Screen swipe from the right
  • Touch Change PC settings
  • Touch OneDrive
  • Select Sync settings
  • Turn "Sync your settings on this PC" off
  • Restart your Surface and check if the Taskbar option appears available after.

Unfortunately this workaround solution is only possible when the user is actually logged in using a Microsoft account. When the user is only logged in using their domain account (as is likely the case with the majority of enterprise users), all OneDrive options are greyed out and already disabled.

Any suggestions for users who are missing the "Use small taskbar buttons" option, but are only logged in using their AD credentials?
