It could be as simple as a sticking key on the keyboard. That would cause the beeps and the lag..
Continuous beeping
Hello everyone.
So my problem only just started yesterday. It would appear that my Windows 7 Gateway laptop keeps beeping every few seconds (the same beep as though a usb device has been unplugged from a usb port) as well as a slight lag in the system. When I reboot my computer, I can be sure that as soon as my desktop appears on screen, that the beeping will start, and it won't stop. When I am watching a video through either VLC or window media player, you can be sure that as soon as there is a beep, a second later the video lags for that one second, and that is every single time. When I stop explorer.exe, the beeping stops as well, but the lag persists. Also note that it isn't just the video that skips, the mouse and most other applications will also do so following the beeps, which leads me to believe that it is the whole system, and not simply the video. My laptop doesn't overheat, and the battery doesn't appear to have any issues. When I plug in an external hd, the usb connection beep plays, but the disconnection beep is unphased. I would like to avoid having to restore to factory settings, but am open to any solutions/tips on resolving the issue because it is getting to be really annoying especially when I am trying to enjoy a movie. Please help! Thanks!
