Hi Mike,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Communities.

I understand that you can’t open any of my libraries.

Sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. Not to worry we are here to help.

The error code that you get is the registry cannot create a stable subkey under a volatile parent key.

Follow the below methods and check if it helps:

Method 1: SFC Scan

This scan will check for all system related files and try to fix the corruptions.

Right click on the windows key on bottom left of the screen

Select Command Prompt (Admin)

This will open command prompt and please type sfc /scannow and hit enter.

This will initiate the system file check. Once the check is complete check the libraries.

Method 2: create a new Administrator account

Please refer to the below link to create a new account and ensure it is admin account.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-user-account#create-user-account=windows-8

Create a new user account and check if you are able to access the library.

If your new user account is working fine then you have to transfer all the data from old user to new

account.

To transfer your data to the new account:

Transfer the profile data to this account. ****a) Press Window key + X together and select Windows Explorer.

b) Click on View tab and Click on Options at the top right corner.

c) Click the View tab, and then click Show hidden files, folders, and drives.

d) Uncheck the box which states Hide protected operating system files.

e) Click Yes to confirm, and then click OK.

f) Locate the C:\Users\Old_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed on, and Old Username is the name of the profile you want to copy files from.

g) Select all of the files and folders in this folder, except the following files:

•Ntuser.dat

•Ntuser.dat.log

•Ntuser.ini

h) Right click and Select Copy.

i) Locate the C:\Users\New_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed on, and

New Username is the name of the new user profile you created.

j) Right click inside the folder and select Paste.

Hope the above given step helps you resolve the issue. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist.
