Explorer.exe connecting to Microsoft via https

I continue to see the process explorer.exe with an established https (443) connection to a microsoft owned server (157.56.100.x) using local port 1107.  What component is communicating with Microsoft using this port?  I also see it in netstat as bn1wns2011706:https.  Some google searching alludes to skydrive.  Is this the case?  What is the proper method, in windows or via group policy to disable this communication?

I also see established connections to Microsoft owned servers using local TCP port 1148 using https.

Same question - what component is communicating via this local port to Microsoft, why, and how do I disable?
