i have windows 8.1.Dell inspiron N4050. The device manager shows yellow exclamation sign on Microsoft Hyper-V Network Switch Default Miniport . When clicked there, it says

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

{Unable to Load Device Driver}

%hs device driver could not be loaded.

Error Status was 0x%x

I have tried uninstalling but it does not work? I could not determine where does this driver is affecting too?

Hello Kapil,

Thank you or providing us with the detailed description about the issue.

I understand your concern and I will help you with this issue.

As per the description, I understand that you are getting a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager on Microsoft Hyper –V Network Switch Default Miniport. And it is giving you a error message that says: Windows cannot load the Device driver for this hardware. This driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39).

In order to understand the issue more clearly, please provide me with the following information.

  1. When you say “I have tried uninstalling but it does not work”, do you mean you’re not able to uninstall the driver?

A yellow exclamation point next to a device in Device Manager means that Windows has identified a problem of some kind with that device is detected but not installed. There are several causes of Code 39 errors:

  • A required device driver is missing.
  • A required binary file is corrupted.
  • There is a problem with the file I/O process.
  • A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load.

Error code 39 says 'Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because the driver may be corrupted or missing.

To get a better understanding of Hyper-V networking and what this means, take a look at this article.

If you’re not able to uninstall this driver from Device Manager you may check running the Microsoft Fixit below and check uninstalling it once again.

Thank you.
