Windows Update Problem (Windows 8.1)

For a few months now, I've been having problems doing updates.

The same updates keep downloading over & over & over........

When I restart my computer, it tries to install, then says it had trouble installing them, & reboots again. When Windows Update scans for updates again, the same updates download again. It's a vicious circle that keeps going round & round.

I went through doing the Command Prompt/ DISM thing several times & I keep seeing this in the log each time.....

(I'm copying & pasting directly from Notepad)

I have no clue what it means or how to fix it. It's driving me nuts! I have no idea if I'm getting any new updates or if it's just the same thing downloading each time.......HELP!!!

It wasn't released until April which is the 4th month unless you're writing the date the American way i.e. August 2, 2014 rather than February 8, 2014.

Next step. Go back to "View installed updates" and check to see if these two are installed. Download both if they aren't:

KB3065988 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3065988

KB3054256 - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3054256

If you already have them, download this one which is one of the updates taken from your log file which failed. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48455

What I'm trying to ascertain here is whether the problem is confined to Windows automatic updates, or whether you have a problem installing updates manually as well.

Thank you so much....I hope this helped....My update history shows that none have been downloaded but that is not the case.   I just don`t know what to do since I have done all the things instructed that I can.  I do have a list of the ones that are missing ( it was from Belarc Adisor program)  Possibly if I can download KB2976978 it will be sufficient for me to upgrade to Windows 10----

    Again, thank you -----Edith Sonntag

Thank you so much for your response!!

    I ran :  Scanhealth

               Checkhealth

               Repairhealth

I've done these all several times.

When I saved the results, I kept seeing everything that I put in my original post.

My biggest concern is that I don't know if I'm getting any new updates at all because I keep seeing the same ones downloading over & over again.

It's Sunday. Lots of people take a day off on a Sunday.

So which DISM command did you run?
