 Hi there,

I have a Microsoft Camera which is 1.1 and I had it for my old computer in Windows 7.  Now my computer is running on windows 8 and I am not able to get it to work even though I re-download the

apps which I still have with me.  I would like to the necessary apps for my 1.1 Micorsoft camera to work.

Please help.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Lynn Sim

    Hello,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you are not able to use your Microsoft Camera 1.1 using Windows 8. I will certainly help you with the issue.

I would like to know a few information:

    1) Do you get any error message when you connect the Camera to your PC?

    2) Have you installed all the latest drivers for the Camera?

    3) Is that Microsoft Lifecam 1.1?

    Method 1:

Run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter

    Follow the steps below:

I would suggest you to run hardware and devices troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    a) Press the ‘Windows + C’ to activate the charms menu or move the mouse pointer to bottom right corner of the screen and you will get the charms menu.

    b) Click on ‘search’ and select ‘settings’ and type ‘Troubleshooting’ and select ‘troubleshooting’.

    c) Click on ‘Hardware and Sound’ and select ‘Hardware and Devices’ and click on next to run the troubleshooter.

    Method 2:

Update the Camera drivers in Device Manager

    • Press Windows key + X

    • Select Device Manager

    • Expand the Entries for Sound, Video, and Game Controllers and also Imaging Devices

Look for a black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field next to a device. The exclamation point indicates that the device has a problem.

    • Right-click the device, and then click the option Update Driver Software

    • Select search Automatically for updated driver software

    • Click Next

    Method 3:

Download and install the latest software

Visit the following Microsoft Hardware website:

    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads/default.mspx

    Hope this information helps.

Please provide us the required information to search more about this and understand the issue more clearly and we will be glad to offer our assistance.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

    Ankit Rajput
