Hi

When I plugged in of my flash drives (USB drive), I got a message "potential malware detected". I copied files I wanted and removed the flash drive. In Windows defender, it says PC is protected and when I check the details of threats detected, this is what it shows:

Detected Item: Worm:Win32/Wervik.D

Action taken :Quarantined

The following error occurred: Error code 0x80508023. The program could not find the malware and other potentially unwanted software on this computer.

Category: Worm

Description: This program is dangerous and self-propagates over a network connection.

Recommended action: Remove this software immediately.

Items:

file:E:\svhost.exe->(AutoIT)->AutoIT_Script->(UTF-16LE)

What I do to remove this? Does that mean my computer is still infected?

Thanks

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

Run the System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Press Windows key + X and click Command Prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press Enter

    sfc /scannow

Note: Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

    Hope this helps.

How have you determined that the flash drive is no longer infected?

How have you determined that your other flash drives aren't infected?

How have you determined that the files you copies weren't infected?

When (approx. date) did you upgrade to Win10?

    Did you upgrade a Win7 or a Win8.1 computer to Win10?
