Windows stuck minimized

Greetings,

I often get windows which are stuck minimized. It first started happening with Firefox, so I thought it was a Firefox problem, but it is also happening with Google Chrome now.

The only thing I can do is to force the application closed. When I open it again, it opens off-screen to the left.

How can I find out why windows are getting stuck minimized?

    I don't think you can and I'm not sure what the trigger is. It's been happening to me from XP to 10.
