VHD performance

Hi there

I have installed Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 on fixed VHD with 25 Gigabyts of free space, I have followed instructions here to do this. It was amazing to observe the provided script for automated installation of Windows 8 is also works fine with Windows 8 and Windows 10.

During my tests and observations with these Windows installations, I noticed some sorts of performance loss, for example none of those started very fast (all takes longer to boot compared to Windows 7).

Meanwhile Windows Experience index could not start, possible because of having this kind of storage.

Now the question is this: Does installation of windows on  a VHD drives really lead to performance loss?

How to compensate this loss and have a optimized experience?
