Blue Screen Error Windows 8 - Code 0x0000001

Hi,

I turned on my PC yesterday and it displayed a blue screen error with the below details

 Recovery

Your PC couldn't start properly

After multiple tries, the operating system on your PC failed to start, so it needs to be repaired.

Error Code: 0xc0000001

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

Press Enter to try again.

Press F8 for Startup Settings.

If I press Enter to try again, the Windows logo with the dots will appear briefly before the screen goes dark and nothing seems to be happening.

If I select F8 and try to run in Safe Mode I receive a popup box "Windows cannot complete installation in Safe Mode. To continue installing Windows, restart the computer."

Yesterday I was able to get to the Recovery options where I selected Recovery (not overly worried about my files at this point), and the screen showed that it was recovering however once it reached 100% it went to a dark screen and nothing occurred for a long time. Now it is back to the blue screen error.

I have no installation media but I do have a backup of my files and I believe partitions etc on a USB.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you are getting blue screen with an error code.

This might be due to corrupted display drivers or system conflicts.

I would suggest you to perform startup repair using installation media.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Try performing Startup Repair using Windows 8 installation media from Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and check.

To perform Startup repair on your computer, follow these steps:

a. Insert the media such as (USB or DVD) and restart your computer.

b. Press F12 key (typically this is F12, but it can differ between computer manufacturers) and choose the drive that you inserted the installation media into.

c. Once the Windows Setup window appears, follow these steps:

d. Click next and select Repair your computer.

e. You will then see a blue screen and an option to choose. Choose the option Troubleshoot and select advanced options.

f. You may choose StartupRepair from Advanced boot option.

g. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Startup Repair.

After logging in to your system, I would suggest you to install the display drivers from the Manufacturers website and check if that helps.

Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other assistance with Windows in future. We will be happy to assist you.
