.NET Framework 4.0 installation failures

I have been unable to get the .NET 4.5.1 updated on my computer:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

System Type x64-based PC

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 4001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

Have attempted all the usual MS DotNet Fixit repairs and other common fixes I can find in the forums.  sfc scan shows no integrity violations.  Lots of hard drive space left.  Followed Aaron Stebner's weblog and used his tools to get back to 3.5 install, and verified the existing 3.5 install good using his tool, but now can't get any .NET versions above that installed  Have attempted using Windows Update and using full downloaded versions.

Current log file has this when trying to update from .NET 3.5 to latest:

Thanks for the reply.  Yes, I have already tried and checked both of those.  I have finally given up and done a fresh install of Windows 10, so this is now closed.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting you query on Microsoft Community.

As per description, you are unable to install .Net framework 4.5 on your system.

As you have already tried some steps on your own.I would suggest you to follow the methods given below and check.

Method 1Make sure the Windows Installer service is not disabled.

    1. Click Start, type Services in the search box.
    2. In the Services (Local) list, right-click Windows Installer, and then click Properties.

3.If the Startup type drop-down list is set to a value of Disable, select the Manual option from the Startup type drop-down list, and then click OK.

    1. Click the File menu, and then click Exit

If issue still persists try method 2,

    Method 2: ****

You may try to reset the Windows Update components and then try to install the Windows Updates.
