Hard drive overload

On a regular basis, my hard drive gets overloaded with .dbd files.  I have been deleting hundreds of gb of  .dbd files using windirstat with no apparent harm.  This is on a new HP machine with only 670 gb hd to begin with.   I am running windows 8.1.  Within a week I will be getting hard drive overload notices again.

I found the following elsewhere on Microsoft community.

    1. Search for "Indexing Options" (under "Settings"). Open it.
    2. Search "services" (or run "services.msc") and find "Windows Search". Stop the service.
    3. Delete the Windows.edb file
    4. Click "Modify" in the already-open "Indexing Options" panel, then click "Delete and Rebuild" for the index. You can also specify a different drive to store the index on.

I have followed the instructions but need a day or so to discover if it is the culprit.  Thanks for the help though.

Glary's utilities is an adware installer and may well be the cause of the problem:  http://www.herdprotect.com/glary-utilities.exe-b16bffc85d28242793b7de7939138cdbc6ad9da2.aspx

I have the store bought version of Malwarebytes and it shows nothing.  I also have store bought version of glary's utilities which I run on a regular basis.  Nothing.

    Hi,

Download the free version (orange button) of Malwarebytes and then run a full scan to eliminate malware as the culprit: https://www.malwarebytes.org/
