I have purchased winzip20 however cannot open rar file. can anyone guide.

It could be that the file you're trying to open is corrupted. You should query WinZip support. You might also want to try opening the file with a different utility, such as the free 7-Zip. If that program also won't open the file, you'll have a pretty good indication that it's a problem with the file and not the software.
