I had windows 10 installed on my laptop. Was working fine earlier today. Started my laptop when I got home from work and now it says it is preparing my computer for first use, it's back to windows 7, and I get a message saying Clean up phase Sysprep plug-ins and then my laptop restarts and does it all over again. I am NOT tech savy...what happened and more important how do I fix this?

    Hi Jodi,

We may try the following options to help you resolve this but first I would suggest you to perform Startup repair with the help of Windows 7 DVD/Media and if that doesn’t work you might have to perform a System restore.

Steps to perform Startup Repair :

    1.Insert the installation disc.

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings in case you don’t get the prompt.

    4.  Choose your language settings , and then click Next .

    5.  Click Repair your computer.

    6.  Select the operating system you want to repair , and then click Next .

    7.  On the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair . Startup Repair might prompt you to make choices as it tries to fix the problem, and if necessary, it might restart your computer as it makes repairs.

If it doesn’t work please try to perform system restore from the Windows 7 DVD .

Perform a System Restore and rollback your system to the time prior to when you ran the sysprep .

    To perform System Restore:

***System Restore disclaimer:*When you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you installed are removed.

If none of these options work, we might have to reinstall Windows 7 on your PC. You may also directly install Windows 10 on your PC, if it has been activated once on your PC.

You may refer to the article mentioned below for downloading Windows 10.

    **Download Windows 10**
