I did a restore, lost some files, checked the "quarantined" section (where it stores potential threats for me to review) and there was nothing, tried to use Steam, still won't work. And the restore point was made around the time AVG was removed, so I don't see why it didn't work
Missing system32 components after installing something
I recently changed Antivirus programs from AVG to 360 Total Security
It recently removed some "Viruses" that were in the system32 folder, which now I'm having an issue in which Google Chrome can only connect to the internet, Steam can't connect, Firefox can't connect, nothing but Chrome will connect.
No errors, no pop-ups, nothing
I feel like these components have to be linked to my internet issue
Things I Have Done To Try To Fix The Issue:
* Use Safe Mode with Networking
* Stop Any Processes From Unknown

2015-10-11T18:16:58+00:00 You are probably thinking of an "image restore". "System Restore" is something different. Windows creates restore points automatically. You can see the available restore points using the command rstrui.exe.
About your data files: If you do not back them up regularly then you belong to this very large group of people who remain oblivious of the rule that important files must be stored at all times on two different media. They invariably change their minds following a major catastrophe. You are probably safe on this occasion. Even if Windows will no longer start it is still possible to get your files off the disk.

2015-10-11T17:51:32+00:00 I would try to use a restore point, but the last one I made was several months ago, and I know I'll lose a ton of files, is there some way to reinstall the components?

Maybe 360 Total Security got a bit carried away. I would use System Restore to set Windows back before the tool removed these "Viruses".
I actually wonder about a product such as "360 Total Security" that appears to have no paid version and no advertisements. How does it make its money? Why not use Microsoft Security Essentials (which is also free)?
