Just got this error message when attempting uninstall an anti spyware.  Got a similar message with code 1073741521 when attempting to uninstall another anti malware.  What is going on?!

Hi,

Thanks for posting your query to Microsoft forum. I will certainly help you with this.

This issue may happen if the setup files are missing or due to some corruption while uninstalling the program, this could be due to limited admin rights on current user.

I would like to know;

  1. Are you logged as administrator ?
  2. Did you install these malware on the computer?

Let’s try the following steps and check if it helps.

Method 1: Run the Fixit.

You may try running the Fixit for the same.

Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Method 2: Run the Microsoft safety scanner.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

Run a full computer scan with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus free.

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Try to uninstall the malware now. If the issue persists, follow method 3.

Method 3: Perform SFC scan

I would suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if that helps. The sfc/scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. It is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Please reply us with these information and the current status of your computer we will be happy to assist you further.
