System Configuration

My experience with system configuration, has been to control what program could start, in the "startup" tab. Before, whenever I'd uncheck something so that it wouldn't start again, I would get a message to "restart in order for changes to take effect". It no longer does that, so I'm thinking I inadvertently click the box not to ask me that again. My question is, is there a way to turn that back on?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query to Microsoft forum. I will certainly help you with this.

Since you enabled the Don’t show this message again option when closing the System Configuration Utility, we will have to delete a registry value to restore the prompt back.

Follow the steps please:

  1. Click Start, type Regedit.exe and press ENTER

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Shared Tools \ MsConfig

  1. Delete the value named NoRebootUI in the right pane.
  2. Exit the Registry Editor.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Let us know the results. Please post back for further assistance, we'll be glad to assist you.
