Color scheme changing to basic everytime I plug the power cable

Hi, recently I'm having a really annoying problem.

Everytime I plug in or out the power cable the entire screen is "blinking" a couple of times, a really quick tool tip is showing (I caught it with a print screen and it said: "The color scheme has been changed to Windows 7 Basic. A running program isn't compatible with certain visual elements of Windows. Click here for more information." which I can't click because it closes quickly) and then the screen is back to normal.

Well, kind of normal. The open windows are becoming not entirely maximized and if I'm on youtube then the video is becoming really small, but if I minimize the window and open it again then it's good.

It wasn't much of an issue for me until yesterday when it happened again and chrome, that was open before I plugged the cable, became black and it took few minutes for him to be back to normal (unless I closed it and opened it again).

I already tried in the System properties->Performances options to select the "Adjust for best appearance" and it didn't work.

Sadly, I don't see any option here to post a screen shot of this.

Anyway, I have HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have enough disk space in my computer and usually the programs that are open when I do this are office (word or excel mostly) and chrome.

What can I do to fix that annoying problem?

Try these:

  1. Make sure your graphics card drivers are up-to-date. Check HP's website for the latest drivers.
  2. Make sure the power plan you're using is not set to **Power Saver.**To check, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options
  3. Make sure your computer has enough memory when you unplug the power cable. To check, right-click the task bar, click Task Manager, and, under the Performance tab, check how much memory is being used. If it's more than 70%, you're running low on memory. Try closing some programs and then see if the problem persists.
  4. Run the Aero Troubleshooter. See this link for instructions: Open the Aero troubleshooter.
