Repeating updates while installing Windows Defender KB2267602 update

*Original Title: Repeating updates

I have a similar problem when trying to update Windows Defender KB2267602.   After updating, I receive a message that the update has been downloaded and installed, but the next time I turn on my computer, the update is still there, and needs to be downloaded and installed - again.

I went through the process a second time with the same results.  Then I went to Microsoft.com and manually downloaded the file.  Incidentally, instead of being completed in seconds, it took 1.5 hrs.

The next day, the same message appeared on my computer stating the update was needed.  Today I tried your suggestion and could not locate the update at all. That tells me that it is not installed on my computer no matter how many times I have tried.

I have Windows 8, have run scans, use protection against malware, but still cannot figure out how or why this keeps recurring.

I realize that Windows Defender updates daily, but unlike other complaints, KB2267602 shows everytime I want to manually update my system.  The messages shows that it's ready to install, the bar graph moves from left to right, then the message says to be downloaded/installed.  Again the bar graph goes from left to right and "poof" it disappears until the next time I try and manually update.  Unlike the other complaints, my download is not failing, it just keeps being offered each time a manual update is tried.

Windows Defender definitions are updated daily. Are you certain these are repeating updates?
