Attempting to install Windows Defender on Microsoft 10.  Uninstalled Norton, but know that avast!antivirus is still a program on my list, but when I select Uninstall a program, it doesn't appear.

Use the specifc Avast removal tool from this List of anti-malware product removal tools

and also run the one for Norton to get rid of possible remnants, in case you didn't use it when you uninstalled Norton.

After a reboot Windows Defender which is built into Windows 10 should be automatically enabled.

    @francineEvangelista -

    You are going to need to remove Avast!antivirus before trying to enable Windows Defender.  If you can't remove completely, then you will need a removal tool (see Jsssssssss' post).

    You will need to manually download latest signatures.  After Windows Defender has been enabled try executing the following command : "%programfiles%\windows defender\mpcmdrun.exe -signatureupdate -http
