I just run a hardware and devices Windows 8.1 pro upgrade from windows 7 starter 64bit troubleshooter on an acer aspire E1-531, there is no way it manages to get the driver is looking for.

It appears an error message Base system device driver not found, I don't understand which it is the driver in question or the hardware so to find it manually.

Any help highly appreciated.

    Hello,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you're getting an error saying Base System Device not found. I will certainly help you with the issue.

I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1:

I would suggest you run the Windows update, so that it can check and install any drivers available for the device. Refer to the section “Do I need to check for updates” section in this article:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/windows-update-faq

    Method 2:

If there were no updates available or if the issue persists even after checking for updates, then I would suggest you to check the for the hardware ID so that we can determine what device it is and get the appropriate driver for the update. Open device manager as suggested above and right click to get the “properties” window. Click on “Details” tab and under property, choose “Hardware ID” make a note of it.

Try these steps and let us know the results. If the issue persists, get back to us with the hardware ID, so that we can assist you accordingly.
