5 beeps!?!

My laptop is windows 7, I don't even know. Sometime my laptop works and sometimes it doesn't. I turn it on and it beeps 5 times and then turns off. What do I do?

    The beeping is the POST telling you that something's wrong.  There are lists of beep codes here.  You will need to know who provided the BIOS.

    Please provide much more detail. For example:

    1. age
    2. make/model
    3. hard drive size and how much in use
    4. desktop or laptop
    5. memory
