Applications (like word or task manager) keep changing my keyboard layout without my authorization. I always have to switch back using the Alt+Shift command.

HOW TO FORBID >>>>>>>ANYTHING<<<<<<< FROM MESSING WITH THE LAYOUTS ?

I have two keyboards with two different layouts. I need both layouts installed.

I have the same problem for a long time.

Something changes my keyboard back to English all of a sudden and it forces me to use windows key+ space to fix it back to Portuguese..

This is rather annoying since I work with important texts and sometimes in the middle of them the keyboard changes and I write wrong characters until I notice them, if I notice them before pressing enter.

Running 3rd party OS controls doesn't sound pertinent as this happens in all my Windows X machines that were installed from scratch/ virgin.

    Best regards,

    • Gabriel da Silva

sfc /scannow in Administrator mode found NO errors

The computer is fully up to date and free of viruses, before you ask

We both know this is procrastination and we both know that your suggestions have no relation whatsoever to the related problem.

It's a personal computer. No network

MS Safety Scanner found no issues either on a quick or a full scan

    1. The notebook is a Clevo W35xSTQ_370ST
    2. The built in keyboard is US region, the external USB keyboard is BR region
    3. Microsoft (the USB one)

BUT THIS IS ALL IRRELEVANT !

Disabling the key combination (leaving both "not assigned") DOES NOT prevent applications from changing the layout (MS Word or task manager, or even games, for example, still change as soon as they open)

And I NEED these key combinations enabled ! Disabling it would not be a solution, even if it worked.

    FIX IT, MICROSOFT !

    Hello Lucas,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per description, Keyboard layout keeps changing automatically.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better:

    1.      Who is the computer manufacturer?

    2.      What type of keyboard are you using?

    3.      Who is the keyboard manufacturer?

If you are using a desktop try to connect the keyboard to a different computer and check if it working fine.

    You may try these steps.

    1.      Open control panel select Regional and language settings.

    2.      Select the tab Keyboards and languages and click on **change keyboards,**click on Advanced key settings tab.

    3.      click on change key sequence and  Uncheck the two check boxes and select not assigned.

This will prevent the keyboard layout from changing by itself.

You may refer to the article and check if it helps:

    Change your keyboard layout

    Hope the information helps.
