    Hello Rob,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft community.

We need some more information about the issue so that we can help you better.

When do you receive this error message? Is it while using any specific application or program?

I appreciate you for providing details about the issue.

This issue may occur either due to software conflicts or corrupt .NET frameworkfiles.

I would suggest you to perform clean boot and check if it helps.

    Refer this article:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program.

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps from section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” to reset the computer to start as usual.

Please also run ".NET framework cleanup tool" and check the issue.

    Refer this link:

    https://msdnshared.blob.core.windows.net/media/MSDNBlogsFS/prod.evol.blogs.msdn.com/CommunityServer.Components.PostAttachments/00/08/90/44/93/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool_2015_12_18.zip

This ".NET Framework cleanup tool" is designed to automatically perform a set of steps to remove selected versions of the .NET Framework from a computer.

    I hope this information helps.

Please do let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you
