I am trying to install service pack 1 on my new laptop and I am running into the error code 800F0A13. For the last two days I have been going through forum post after forum post trying things.

I attempted to install the service pack manually to no avail. I have run scans from doing the scan thing with the black box. I do not know what to do to get this service pack operational and make my computer run to it's intended efficiency. I also do not have a repair disc.

    Hi Nicolao,

Please follow the below steps and let me know the status.

Step 1: Run the system file checker tool.

Check the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833    “How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7”

Step 2: Run the System Update Readiness Tool again. If the errors have been cleared, try installing Service Pack 1 again.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

If not, move to step 3.

Step 3: Perform a Startup Repair, upon startup, try installing the Service Pack.

Why wasn't Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed years ago?

    1. Close any open Windows Update or Microsoft Update windows.
    2. Click the Start button , and then type Command Prompt.
    3. In the list of results, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator.  If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    4. In the Command prompt window, type the following commands. Press the Enter key after each command: net stop wuauserv net start wuauserv
    5. To close the Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.
    6. Run Windows Update again.

The System Update Readiness Tool creates a log file that captures any issues that the tool found or fixed. The log file is located at the following location:

    •%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

    •%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.persist.log

The system root is normally C. If the files are not there, checkC:\windows\ logs\CBS.

So I did the system file checker thing where I had to open the black box and type in sfc /scannow

so when the scan finished it said that nothing was corrupted.

After that I tried to do the system readiness tool. It had me download something and I tried to install it. So the file microsoft had me download when I followed your link was called windows6.1-kb947821-v34-x64 and its 551 MB.

So far after running the program it hasn't done anything I know it is a large file but I've had files that are 20 GB run faster than this. The installing bar is just sitting there empty.

    The Installation status:

    Initializing instalation... done!

Installing Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) (update 1 of 1)...

ok. The install finished and I got another error.

It says the Installer encountered and error: 0x80240009

I also tried to run the update again and I got a new error 80240016
