Edit Fileserver IP

Hi All,

Good Morning.
I have two windows 2019 servers and created a cluster with Failover cluster manager and enabled file server role in it.
Am looking for an option to edit the IP address associated with the fileserver (\fs1).
I did try to bring the resource offline and deleted the IP address. Then tried to add a client access point with the same name fs1 with different IP, the fileserver role went to failed state. So i wanted to understand is there any procedure to change the client access point IP.

    Hi,

    After we change the IP address of the fs1, can we online the new IP address? We resource name fs1 depends on the IP address, so we need to online the IP address first.

    Besides, when we failed to online the new IP address of fs1, what is the error message do we get?

    Hi Anne,

    The new IP address resource can be brought online, however the fileserver would go to failed state as the old IP which was attached to this was removed. Hence in this case, i have recreated the fileserver role with then new IP address, it seem to help change the IP.

    Hi,

    According to your screenshot, you didn't add the new IP address to the "Server Name", just add the "Other Resources", so the Server name won't be online. Generally, we can just right click the file server name, in the Properties, click the IP address and click Edit to change the IP address.
