    Shubham,

Thanks for your reply.  Answers to your questions are as follows:

    1. I am trying to install PowerDesk Pro 9 by Avanquest.  I downloaded the program and saved it to a disk.  I have been able to successfully install it on a different computer so it does not appear to be a problem with the software.
    2. In early Jan., I downloaded and installed Avery Design & Print and a program to control Microsoft Win 10 auto notices called GWX Control Panel.  Otherwise, I have not made any changes to the laptop recently except to keep Windows up to date.
    3. The problem appears to be specific to the PowerDesk Pro 9 and only on my laptop.
    4. As I wrote, above, I downloaded the program from Avanquest and saved it on a disk.

I will try your other suggestions and hope this information will provide you with additional ideas.  Thank you, again.

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are unable to install program.

I will certainly help you with this.

    Please provide the below information.

    1. Which program or application are you trying to install?
    2. Did you made any changes to the pc prior to this issue?
    3. Is the issue specific to that program or application?
    4. Do you have the disc for that program or did you download that program?

I would suggest you to go through the below methods:

Method 1: Try to run SFC scan:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

Method 2: Try to perform clean boot:

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.

Method 3: Try to temporary disable the antivirus.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 4: Try to reinstall the program which you are trying to.

Also install all the important Windows updates.

I hope this helps. Please let us know the results. Feel free to write us back for any further assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.
