Bluetooth Windows 8.1

Followed steps to make changes in Service and Regedit and got the Bluetooth connectivity etc fixed.

The problem is the Regedit Current Version that I change from 6.3 to 6.2 does not hold.  I do not know why but after shutting down the computer and restarting it reverts to 6.3 and have to make changes again.  Can this be changed permanently? Blow i the link to the Youtube steps I have followed which mirror this I have found on Microsoft site.

    Hi,

    Apologies for delay in response.

I can see that you are having  Bluetooth connectivity issues. You followed the steps to turn on Bluetooth service.

What happens after you enable Bluetooth service. Is it getting disable after restart for this are you trying to make these registry changes.

If yes I would not recommend you to make any changes in registry with the help of any third party suggestions.

Here are the steps to follow for this problem:

This issue might occur due to several reasons like software or hardware driver incompatibility, missing updates, broken drivers etc.

The issue may occur if the service is started by the Local System account instead of by the Local Service account (NT AUTHORITY\LocalService). The Local System account may have insufficient permissions to start the service.

Set the service and any dependent services to run under the NT AUTHORITY\LocalService account.

Let us follow these methods and check if this helps:

    Method 1.

Recommend you to refer to the steps provided by “Bennet Martin” from this thread to set the service and any dependent services to run under the NT AUTHORITY\LocalService account.: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8\_1-hardware/error-1079-the-account-specified-for-this-service/4cd3a470-7cd5-4f16-a023-55623719345a

    Method 2.

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which checks the hardware on the computer for any known issues and provides the details on how to fix them.

Plug in the device and follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.

Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.

In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.

    Click on “Hardware and Devices”.

Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.

Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

    Method 3.

Turn on the Bluetooth enabled device and then make it discoverable. Methods for making it discoverable can vary widely depending on the device. To learn how to make a Bluetooth enabled device discoverable, check the info that came with your device or go to the manufacturer’s website.

If your device has a wireless switch, make sure it’s turned on. The switch could be on the front, back, or side, and it could be small and unmarked. Check the info that came with your device to see if a picture shows where it’s located.

    Method 4.

Usually after an update to a newer version some drivers or devices may not work as expected. This issue may occur as the computer may need the latest version of updates or drivers.

Drivers are updated occasionally. Windows can update them automatically, or you can install the updated drivers yourself. It's important for you to have confidence in the updated drivers you install. Windows notifies you if it detects a suspicious or unsafe driver you shouldn't install.

As we cannot access this link we would suggest you to share the steps you have performed.\

Step 1: Start/Search and type “services.msc” and Enter.

Step 2:Go to “Bluetooth Support Service” and double click on it.

Step 3:In General Tab change startup type changed Manual to Automatic.

Step 4:Then on the Log On Tab marked “This Account” and leave it at “Local Service”.

Step 5:I removed both hidden passwords and restarted.

Step 6:I re-installed the Bluetooth drivers via Dell.

This is what I did originally and every time after when I want to connect my device (Poseidon Se7en MKVII Rebreather) – as it reverts.

Step 7a:  I went/go to Start/Search “regedit” to open registry editor.

    Step 7b:  In registry editor I went/go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version

Step 7c:  In Current Version I look to the right and under Current version, right click and select “Modify” and change Value Data to from 6.3 to 6.2.

From here it pairs with my rebreather, connects, and the Poseidon RBConfig software takes of like it is supposed to.  I just do not want to have to do this every time I connect my rebreather to change parameters within it.  I am not sure what happens to change it back to 6.3 but if it does not connect, I can go to regedit and change it to 6.2, and it is all “go”.

What device you are trying to connect?

I am connecting a Poseidon Se7en Rebreather.  It had an electronic module in it, that is according to mfg, 2.1 Bluetooth version.  There is software (RbConfig) that allows me to change gas mixtures etc. of the unit itself.

What is the make and model of your system?

    A new Dell Inspirion 3152

    Running Windows 8.1

    Intel Pentium Processor

    8.00 GB RAM

    64-bit OS

    Full windows touch support

This laptop does nothing as far as connection and such to other Bluetooth devices, it is purchased to support these devices only.

    Any assistance is appreciated,

    Brett
