Hi everyone,

I just booted up my PC this morning, and this came up, the PC was working perfectly fine since last night, and the years before... But now it won't let me do anything, I searched all the solutions online and nothing working. I used a recovery media of both USB and CD but nothing comes up when to actually recover the PC... I would really appreciate any help...

Thank you

    Hi ThodorisTavropoulos,

Thank you for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums. If I understand you correctly, you are unable to boot into the Windows 8 computer. The error message you receive is “Your PC needs to be repaired” and the error code is “0xc000000e”. I understand that it must be frustrating, but rest assured, we are here to help fix your issue and guide you in the right direction.

The causes of this issue may be the following things.

    • The System files are corrupt.
    • The disk File system has bad configuration.
    • Hardware fault.

If you are unable to boot the computer, you may have to create a bootable Windows 8 installation media (if not) and then perform an Automatic Repair with the help of installation media. To create a Windows 8 bootable disk/media, please refer to the article given below and follow the instructions given in it:

Create installation media for Windows 8

Once after creating the installation disc, you may boot the computer from the disc that you have just created and then follow the instructions given below to perform an Automatic Repair of Windows 8.

Method 1: Perform an Automatic Repair of Windows 8 using the installation media.

    a)       Contact the computer manufacturer to change the boot order of the computer. You will have to change the boot device to CD/DVD drive and then boot from the Windows 8 installation disc.

    b)       In the “Windows Setup” dialog box that appears, set the Time and currency format, Keyboard or input method and the language to install and then click “Next”.

    c)       Click on “Repair your computer” from the lower left corner.

    d)       From the “Choose an option screen”, click on “Troubleshoot”.

    e)       Click “Advanced Options” in the “Troubleshoot” screen.

    f)        In the “Advanced Options” screen, click “Automatic Repair”.

    g)       Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Automatic Repair.

If that doesn’t work, then try the next method to perform a System Restore using the Windows 8 bootable disk and check if you are able to boot the computer to the Start Screen successfully.

    Method 2:

If automatic repair doesn’t help to repair the startup files, you may try to repair them using these commands through Command Prompt under Advance Options.

    Refer to the steps:

    a) After you boot your computer using Windows 8 DVDor System Repair Disc, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.

    b) Select the correct time and Keyboard type.

    c) Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner.

    d) Select Troubleshoot from Choose an optionscreen.

    e) Click Advanced options in Troubleshoot screen.

    f) Click on command Prompt.

    g) Type these following commands and hit enter after each line of command:

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

    Bootrec /scanos

    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Hope this would help. If issue still persists post back with current status of your computer and result of proposed suggestion, we will be happy to assist you.

    Regards,
