Hello there! Thanks for the reply. I updated to driver to the controller and next day Windows 10 was in my Windows Update. I opened it up and it worked! Now have Windows 10 happily running on my computer. Thanks for the information!
Hard Disk Controller Incompatible for Windows 10 Update
After 4 techs, I have been unable to update to Windows 10. Now the compatibility report for my computer is saying that my hard disk controller is incompatible with Windows 10. I have Windows 7 and its been running fairly well with some minor issues. When I go to check for driver or windows updates, it seems to go on forever and not do anything. Not sure if that has anything to do with the controller, but I thought I'd include that information.
The last tech suggested I go to my local IT guy....funny considering this is my home computer. What are my options? Or does anyone have any idea how I might get the controller fixed on my own? Or should I just consider Windows 10 a lost cause and wait till I get a new computer? Thanks!

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
I understand that you are unable to upgrade to Windows 10
I will certainly help you with this.
I would like to inform you that, disk controller is the controller circuit which enables the CPU to communicate with a
hard disk, floppy disk or other kind of disk drive. Also it provides an interface between the disk drive and the bus connecting it to the rest of the system.
You may need to contact the manufacturer of the computer to check if they help to provide the compatible disk controller, but before that please go through the below methods:
Method 1: Try to run the SFC scan:

Method 2: Try to perform clean boot:
A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.
