    Hi,

Thank you for writing us back.

If clean boot is not able to disable certain services that means it is required to run, like antivirus, so that's not the problem.

You may try to run the SFC scan, so it will check for system file corruption and try to fix it:

Method 1: Try to run the system maintenance troubleshooter:

        Press Windows key+R.

        Type control and press enter.

        Click on Troubleshooting.

On the left pane, click on view all.

From the list, double click on the system maintenance and run the troubleshooter.

I was unable to follow the above instructions. Clicking on the Windows Start Icon and typing +R just tells me there isn't a disk in the DVD drive. Have done several clean boots to try and fix an issue I am having with a DVD-ROM game and it hasn't fixed that issue. Should I try again? If so, what should I look for?

    Jeff

Method 2: Try to perform clean boot:

A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.
