WirelessKeyboardFilter_01 update cannot be installed because the filename is mismatched

Several Windows Update attempts failed to install the patch for Microsoft mice "WirelessKeyboardFilter_01".

The message I received was "The driver for WirelessKeyboardFilter_01 is not installed". and then

. . . . "WirelessKeyboardFilter_01 doesn't have a driver           Not Fixed"

Looking into the Device Manager, it displayed an object named "WirelessKeyboardFilter" without a driver, so I copied WirelessKeyboardFilter_01 to WirelessKeyboardFilter.sys and the problem disappeared

The driver name should be WirelessKeyboardFilter and not WirelessKeyboardFilter_01.

Hi Ruth,

Please note that this is no longer a problem, and I posted this as a courtesy to Microsoft and other users who have this issue.  To answer your question, I made no changes after install, and if there were any changes, they were made by a series of Windows updates. This error was caused by a failed Windows Update (optional) listed without a KB number. I noticed the error in the Events Viewer.

I should have mentioned that my desktop is Windows 7 Pro, SP1 fresh install at the beginning of June 2016.  I also had the identical problem with a previous reinstall at the beginning of April 2016. (Needed to reinstall twice because both times the SSD boot drive crashed and was replaced by the manufacturer.) This link provides the details I posted on Windows 7 Forums after the first crash:
