I'm currently running windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  Recently I've been getting the "windows failed to start" screen with the two options, system repair or start windows normally.  When I select the Windows repair option I get asked for my language and then I get an error message saying that this version of windows is not compatible with the sytem repair. I created a repair disk and still got the same message when I tried to start Windows using the repair disk

I will try to answer your questions in order Morris

    1. I installed windows from a disk I purchased for my homebuilt computer.  I did not upgrade.

2 and 3. I get the same error message (see below) when I select Launch Startup Repair from the options on the "windows failed to start" window or when I use a system repair disk that I created on my computer.  So yes, I am using a Windows 7 pro 64 bit repair disk.

    Additional info

the error message I get when I start system recovery is:

"This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair.  Try using a recovery disk that is compatible with this version of Windows."

    Hi,

As per description that on your computer you are receiving an error which is “windows failed to start” and it gives two option which are system repair or start windows normally.

I would like to ask few questions about your query:

    1. Did you use Upgrade key to update to Windows 7 pro?
    2. Are you using Windows 7 pro repair disc or any other version of windows?
    3. Are you using the repair disc of the same Windows versions and architecture(x64/x86)?

If not, then I would recommend you to create a correct reinstallation media with correct architecture and Initiate a repair.

Hope this information is helpful, please get back with the information in brief so that we can assist you further.

    Thank you,
